Study of the Relationship between Social Capital of Family and Student Behavioral Abnormalities

Social capital is one the important subject that can play a major role in social development. Social capital is an instrument for to reach to the other capitals including economic, cultural and human capital. Family and education institutions are two fields that are unaffected by of social capital. Thus, this paper seeks to explain theoretical and experimental bases about social capital of family and its relationship with behavioral disorders. This theoretical framework is based on theories of Coleman and Hirsch and communication impact of internal-family and external-family as the independent variables on the behavioral abnormalities has been measured. Sample was 410 high school students in Tehran in the academic year 2010-2011. Research method was survey and the students responded to questionnaires. Research findings indicate that there is a significant inverse relationship between the social capitals of quantitative and qualitative within family and behavioral disorders of adolescents. Regression analysis result showed that sex and qualitative social capital internal-family have the greatest ability to explain the behavioral abnormalities in benefit of boys. While quantitative social capital of family has the greatest ability to explain the behavioral abnormalities in benefit of girls.
