The Impact of Human Resources Downsizing on Personnel Performance from Manager's Viewpoint

Human resources is considered to be the most important and valuable factor in rendering services in organizaons. Therefore, paying special aenon to human resources planning in every organizaon is essenal. In this regard,one of the policies of organizaons in planning and its process has been the implementaon of downsizing in organizaons. In line with this and with regard to the sensivity of the operaonal department such as police staons,downsizing and restructuring plans which have been carried out in them are looked into in this research. Therefore, a survey was carried out to find out the points of views on organizaonal performance and efficiency and decrease of human resource expenses. The main goal of downsizing is opmal use of human resources. This plan, on the other hand, will effect individual potenals,develop skills, and increase personnel potenals. The goal of this survey was to find out the impact of downsizing on individual potenals, personnel performance, and to increase supervision skills of chiefs. This applied analycal survey was carried in Great Tehran Police Departments (GTPDs) in 2008. Data were gathered through a self-reported quesonnaire (α=0.829), with 22 closed quesons. The data was analyzed using SPSS through a Chi-Square and t-test.Important findings were: downsizing plan will increase the individual potenals,personnel performance, chiefs’ supervision and leadership skills.
