A Study on Relationship between Romantic Attachment Styles and Spouse Abuse

Partner intimate violence is a known issue in all countries and cultures. The purpose of this study was to ass-ess relation between partner intimate violence and romantic attachment st-yle of women. To this end, 396 wom-en who referred to Kermanshah Hea-lth centers were selected through con-venience sampling and completed Sp-ouse Abuse Questionnaire and Expe-riences in Close Relationships Scale.Stepwise regression was conduct and revealed that two types of attachment style (attachment anxiety and attach-ment avoidance) were predictor for victimization of women (p<0.1). Results suggest that a woman’s fear of abandonment and rejection and self-reliance in stressful times may be a risk factor for becoming a victim of violence.
