The Role of Maternal and Paternal Involvement, Autonomy Support and Warmth on Adolescent's Self-Determined Motivation and Academic Achievement

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of maternal and parental involvement, autonomy sup-port, and warmth on adolescents` and self-determined motivation and aca-demic achievement. For this reason 337 high school students were select-ed through multi-stage random samp-ling and completed‏ Academic Motiv-ation Scale (Vallerand et al, 1989), and Perception of Parents Scale (Ro-bbins, 1994). The data from path analysis indicated that maternal involvement, and pare-ntal autonomy support and maternal, paternal and parental warmth via mediating the self-determined moti-vation had indirect effects on aca-demic achievement.
