Outcome of femoral neck fracture in elderly patient treated by Austien Moore prosthesis in Ahwaz Imam khomeyni and Razi hospital since 2006-2010

Background And Objective
Femoral neck fracturesis uncommon in adult, can be associated with high rate of complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of treatment by Austin Moore prosthesis.
Material And Method
Between2004-2010, 126 patients (F=73,M=53)with mean age 78 years with femoral neck fracture were treated by Moore prosthesis in two university hospitals in Ahwaz city In IRAN. Out come with regards of complications and mortality were recorded at 6 years follow up.
Result
In 6years follow up, this findings was detected: mortality 35PT(27.7%),painful prosthesis45 (37.5%),infection13(10.3%) preprosthetic fracture2(1.5%),loosening6(4.7%), revision surgury6(4.7%)dislocation4(3%). Any patient had not protrusion.
Conclusion
femoral neck fracture in elderly patients was associated with high rate of complications, which may be due to underlying diseaes and surgical insults. Using bipolar or total hip replacement when available can have better results than Moore prosthesis in these patients
