Archetypal Analysis of Jamshid and khorshid Story by Salman Savejy

This paper tries to analyze the important archetype, individuation process, and valiantly struggling with difficulties and calamities by which the hero in this story wants to establish his identity. Archetype refers to a universally understood symbol or pattern of behaviors or generic version of personalities or persons which is the same for all nations and cultures. Individuation process is one of the archetypes introduced by Carl Gustav Jung (21st century). In his opinion, the essence of human (self) is not in its complete form at birth, and improves with time by going through individuation process for becoming what it should be. this process is in various forms. The only common factor among them is the presence of a number of archetypes in relation with its different stages.Jamshid and Khorshid is the story of a young man (Jamshid), following his dream about a woman (his anima, Khorshid), decides to make a journey from east to the west of the world to unit with her. In this path, after surpassing his inner demonic forces, the young man becomes qualified to continue the way. The wise old man and the kind fairy act as a guide and give help to him with resolving many problems and overcoming obstacles like: arrival in Jin's land, sinking down into the dangerous sea, father's contravention, battling against dragon, fighting with Akvan-e Div, and defeating the rival. Moreover, other archetypes are considerable: ideal forms like female element (anima), good mother figure, the wise old man, dragon, sea, and numbers. This indicates the existence of collective unconscious among all nations and humans at 600 years ago.
