A study of Confirmatory Structure two-factor Model of the Persian Version Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale

Dimensionality of the widely used Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) was investigated in a sample of 129 (75 mail and 55 female) in freshman students were randomly selected from all dormitories of shahid Chamran university using random sampling, and completed the Persian version of the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. Data analysis was conducted by AMOS-16 software. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that one-model (positive self-esteem) is not fit with data. But the two-factor self-esteem model (Rajabi, & Bohlool, 1387) had a better fit with data from the sample compared with the competing one-dimensional model of self-esteem. This finding provides some preliminary support that the two factors could possibly be measuring substantively distinct dimensions.
