Providing a model for calculating the operational life of equipment based on operational and environmental conditions

Knowing useful life of equipment is important for support sections, especially in military organizations. Because early replacement has extra cost and delay in replacement reduce mission efficiency and increase repairmen costs. Thus calculating operational life of equipment can be used to facilitate the management of equipment. The main purpose of this study is providing a model for determining the standard life, operational life, remaining life, equipment replacement time of capital equipment in the organization. This model is considered a useful tool for managing the equipment.It was designed a comprehensive model. This model has three main parts that in each section offered suitable method based on organization conditions. In the first part, standard life calculated based on existing standards, manufacturer advice and expertise. In the second part, environmental conditions, affecting factors on life and their impact is determined with the Delphi method. In the third section, the remaining life of equipment calculated based on previous and future usage of equipment and coefficients were calculated in the second section. The model was implemented in the organization and its results show the model accuracy is above 80 percent.
