Contingency model of triple factors effective in road accidents in Iran

Accidents are one of the greatest problems of public health in the world. This is even worse, because victims are often young and they were healthy before accident (Evans, 2004). In Iran this problem is more important, because of increasing number of fatalities and road user and also, increasing travel rate, so investigating suitable models to recognize effective traffic factor is an inevitable necessity. In this article, we evaluate the share of each factor, according to the role of triple factors effective on road accidents. These factors are classifield in three parts: human factor, road factor, vehicle factor. Here, we try to present a clear definition of “share” and “role” of triple factors. It’s something we usually don’t care about it. The statistical sample of road accidents is 34382 in Iran (1385). Sampling method in this article is purposive sampling. In order to collect data, we use from “kam 114”. These data are related to accidents happened in 1385 and reconstructed by the officers. This research is of “application research” type about data collection. Foundings show that human share in accidents is 97.5%. But the role of human factor in accidents 49%. Also, share of environmental factor is 70.5% and its role is 36%. Share of vehicle factor is 31% and its role is 15%.
