Analyzing the Relationship Between Decision-Making Styles of Managers and Staff Accountability (Case Study: Semnan University)

Abstract:
Objectives
The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between decision-making styles of managers and staff accountability.
Method
The research methodology is descriptive – survey; and a sample of 213 individuals from the university staff population of 473 individuals by implementing the questionnaire of decision-making styles and accountability was performed. For data analysis, correlation and regression are used.
Results
Decision making style of Semnan university administrators with the average of 3.40 percent is individual decision making. All the decision-making styles have significant relationship with accountability. Decision making practices predict 47 percents of accountability.
Conclusions
Administrators of Semnan university mostly use the individual decision making style. There is a significant positive relationship between administrator's decision-making styles (group, consultative and participatory) and staff responsibility. There is a significant negative relationship between Individual decision-making and accountability of staff. Participatory decision-making style of administrators is the most important predictor of staff accountability.
