Abstract:
The rise of the silent groups in the age of dictatorship and authoritarianism in the Middle Eastern countries possessing a moderate Islamic discourse indicates that Islamists have to take a new test; a test at which they have been successful in Tunisia so far. This success had led to the decline in the role and status of radical fundamentalist groups in the region. But how could the moderate Islamist currents affect the status of Islamic fundamentalism through a change in their structure? The expansion of democratic processes in the Middle East in recent years have realized such an effect; processes which have taken place in connection with the globalization trend and networking of the modern world, rise of communication technologies and political transparency preclude other currents to articulate their own discourse without experiencing an internal reconstruction. This article seeks to answer the aforementioned question, drawing upon a bibliographical method.
