A Study of Theoretical and Practical Perspective of Spatial Planning in Iran's Higher Education

Abstract:
This paper aims to clarify the extent to which theoretical and practical aspects of spatial planning in Iran's higher education is developed. In addition to historical and descriptive-analytical method, analysis of the documentaries was applied in the study. The findings indicated that in spite of different efforts and activities toward higher educational spatial planning but both theoretical and practical aspects of spatial planning in Iran’s higher education have not been developed effectively. More importantly the finding revealed that scientific and theory making challenges, reductionism in viewing higher education, managerial and political challenges, evaluation and monitoring of higher education, low elite participation and involvement in spatial higher education planning and the lack of intra-agencies for higher education policy making are among the main challenges the country is confronted respectively.
