Assessment of Superstition Tendency amongst Patients with Physical Illnesses Referred to Nontherapeutic People

superstition is a common, usual phenomenon lead to diverse behaviors and attitudes. Human beings’ beliefs also could determine health status and quality of life. This study aims to assess superstition tendency amongst patients with physical illnesses referred to nontherapeutic people. this research is descriptive study. Sampling was done randomly. samples were selected from 400-eligible women referred to to nontherapeutic people in Aligoudarz city. Research instrument was a questionnaire used to assess demographic information and physical problems of study samples. Validity and reliability of questionnaire was approved by content validity and test-retest methods. results showed that problems related to pregnancy and labor (20%), limbs pain (16/5%), abortion and still birth (16/3%) were the most prevalence reasons for study samples to refer to nontherapeutic people. Besides, 16/5 % of them believed in the role of magic and 40/3 percent of them believed in evil eyes on manifestation of their illnesses. Moreover, 18/3% of samples believed that only nontherapeutic people could treat them because of their especial reasons due to their illnesses. K-Squer and Fisher-test showed meaningful relation between demographic information and physical problems of samples. frequent references of patients with physical disorders to nontherapeutic people could indicate that people's beliefs related to health and illness is really effective on their healthy behaviors, consequently, recognition such beliefs could affect maintaining and boost the level of health and selection of better medical health styles.
