Knowledge, Attitude and Performance of Adults and Teenagers Related to Ecstasy

Ecstasy use has been common in Iran during recent years and it could be found in different forms, names and colors and even with low prices in hidden bazaars. In regard to this issue that there are no documented numbers and statistics related to Ecstasy use by adult and teenagers in Iran, also, it is increasing among these two high risk group, this study was done in order to create some prophylactic programs. This study is a descriptive- analytic research. Study samples were include 194 college students and 700 pre university students in Aligoudarz city in educational year 1387-88. Sampling was done in multi stages method. Data were collected by a self-made questionnaire and analyzed by spss software. Results showed that level of knowledge was poor in more than half of samples. Also, in terms of attitude, there was a positive attitude in majority of them. Results related to performance showed that 2.2 percent of samples had the experience of ecstasy use. Statistic tests there was a meaningful relation between knowledge, attitude (p=0/000). In addition to this, there was a meaningful elation between performance and attitude (p= 0/01). It can be concluded from the results that educational programs should be designed in order to increase level of knowledge in these two high risk groups and change their positive attitude toward Ecstasy.
