An Evaluation of Antioxidant Enzyme Activity and Protein Content of Rose (Cv. Sensiro)

Message:
Abstract:
Postharvest senescence is a major factor، limiting the marketing of many species of cut flowers، including roses. Considerable efforts have been devoted to developing postharvest treatments to lengthen the extend of the marketing period. The purpose of this study was to determine the most suitable nitric oxide، and Thidiazuron concentrations to increase the antioxidant activity as well as protein content in Rosa cut flowers. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design of three replications. Treatments consisted of: four different Sodium Nitro Prusside (SNP) concentrations (0،20،40 and 60 µm/l) along with Thi Diazuron (TDZ) in three levels (0،20 and 40 µm/l)، and as well with 20% pulsings of sucrose. Some such physiological traits as peroxidase and catalase activities as well as the protein in leaf and in petals of Rosa cut flowers were assessed throughout the study. Results showed that the 40µm/l of TDZ treatment increased protein in the leaf and petals، and as well the catalase activities in the leaf.
