Sheikh Tosi's Lexical Approach in Tebyan Commentary

Creating a deeply and accurate understanding of the Quran being the wise words of the almighty God. Understanding the Quran requires learning special sciences including grammar, connotation, expression, jurisprudence, interpretation, history and many other related sciences. One of the most important of them is the science of the Quran words. This important science in exploring the concepts of the Quran is also of high importance in the Quran's interpretations; and no interpreter is able to provide a comprehensive analysis without a good knowledge of it. Among the topics that will be addressed in the area of the Quran's Mofradat are the topics of synonyms, common words, and antonyms; scholars have different opinion over the existence of these elements in Arabic and the Quran and their differences have let to different interpretations of the Quran. Sheikh Tosi, the commentator of Tabyan, (the first logical interpretation o Shiit), has a vast knowledge on the subject of Mofradat. He has discussed some of the conceptual relations between words specially synonyms and antonyms and has presented some theories. The present paper examines Sheikh Tosi's perspective in the area of synonyms, common words, and antonyms. The results show Sheikh Tosi's attention towards conceptual relations and their delicate differences among words along with considering their origins. His theories are sometimes in contrast with other interpreters. The present study uses a descriptive analytical method and is based on the samples results of the Tebyan Commentary.
