Integration of Digital Libraries with Virtual Learning Environments

This study aims to review the literature on integration of digital libraries and virtual learning environments (VLEs). For the purpose of this study، various databases were searched based on a combination of important keywords such as Learning Management System، Digital Libraries، Library Resources، Virtual Learning Environment، Integration، Linking، Course Management Software، Challenges، andCourse Management System. In total، 37 sources were classified and their content was analyzed. The study indicated that the main issues of integration of DL and VLEs are technical issues، organizational issues، resources، and content. Integration of DL and VLEs provides academic community with integrated access to library resources and services. Also، the study indicated that librarians have to redefine their profession and role and take on the new roles.
