Abstract:
Objectives
The goal of this study is to analyze the common definitions of Islamic university and suggesting a new pattern.
Method
the method of the survey is qualitative and documentary.
Results
the results of the present study indicate 6 categorized definitions for Islamic university: islamicization as a political measure, university based on Islamic attitude and disciplines, university based on Islamic training and ethics, knowledge-oriented university, university based on Islamic knowledge and multi dimensional definitions. The article then besides describing the main indexes, criticizes each definition separately. Then introduces a suggestive pattern and indicate the relationship between university and other bases of cultural points in community. The author then indicates three functions for university including education, training and research.
Conclusion
the authors of the article conclude the approval of the mentioned model and define university in four categories: content-hardware-software and human resources.
