The Explanation of Postmodern Components in the Novel " The Land of Green Plums" by Herta Muller

The present article seeks to study the postmodern literature techniques used in the novel “The Land of Green Plums” by the Roman-born German novelist Herta Muller. Attaining this purpose, first we try to clarify our perception of the most important characteristics of postmodern literature. Therefore, In the first section of the paper, we emphasize on the elements such as temporal disorder in narration, uncertainty, contradiction, dis-placement, incoherence, irregularity, excessive use of literary techniques, void cycle, paranoia, linguistic disorders, excessive use the stream of consciousness and literary borrowing as the most important elements of postmodern literature. Meanwhile, we try to present a new reading of “the land of green plums” to demonstrate that the truth represented in this novel is a fully democratic truth driving from the liberal structure of the post-modern world, a world that assumes every aesthetic dispute as valid and discussable.
