Author(s):
Abstract:
Among the contemporary Arab poets, Ahmad Matar is one of the few poets that has devoted his life to his country and the Arab nation. He addresses the dormant Arab nations; in his well-known poems titled "Laftat" meaning placards,he talks of the bitter experiences of the Thamoud's destiny as the Quran tells us. By expressing the bitter experiences of Aad and Thamoud as a harbinger, he warns people from the dangers of corrupted rulers. Therefore, the addressees of the Matar poems are not only a particular group but the whole dormant Arab society. His poems are about humanism and humanity. In this article after a glance on Matar's life, the author studies the human side of Matar's poetry and reasons of his acceptance. The political aspect is the most important idealistic elements of his poetry.
