Message:
Abstract:
This article aims at analyzing the collection of stories "Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" (“Thereis no Siyavosh Still Alive”) written by the Iranian psychologist and author, Asghar Elahi, based on Karen Horney's theory. The characters in these stories are in complicated situations and suffer extensively from fear, contempt and loneliness. Elahi in the characterization of his characters explains with new and creative images their spiritualstates as: fear, contempt and psychological illnesses. These ill people usually approach three major defensive statuses that according to Karen Horney' theory are: affection seeking, superiority and seclusion. The characters in these stories - away from reality and in their imagination - live in their spiritual world and escape from their time and they compensate their failures through imagination. In these stories " Nargesoo" the main character in " Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" represents the type of affection seeking people," Kazemi" The main character in " Akhrin Padeshah (The last king)" tends towards superiority and " Sardari" the main character in" Dastanhaye Sardari (Sardari's stories)" prefers seclusion.
