Politics as the " Rites"

Whatever happened in the first decade of 21st century, from September 11 to militaristic interventions in middle-east and Arab spring, was foretold, one way or another, by intellectuals of 1960s and 70s. From their point of view, the world at the dawn of this new century would face a severe deadlock, with no hope to exit but by prices much higher than what was paid prior to Second World War. The main goal of this essay, hence, would be to provide an anthropological understanding of this situation, and putting the political, or better said “modern political systems” in a ritual context, aiming to understand acts and structures dominating political sphere in general, and center-periphery systems specifically.
