Research into Molla Sadra's Poems from the Perspective of Some Social Groups in His Era

Message:
Abstract:
Molla Sadra is one of the great philosophers in Safavid era, who describes and criticizes the powerful Sufis and scientists in their different works. Just like many other Shia philosophers in this era, Molla Sadra adopts a Sufism approach. He defends Sufism, rejects tasharru' ('the superficial advocates of Sharia'), and by combining the rational proofs and mystical intuitions, he creates Sadraean wisdom and contributes to the philosophical mysticism and Shia Sufism. These thoughts are observed in his different works, the most important of which is the collection of his sufistic poems. The poems are a reflection of the foundations in his time and are full of general Sufism themes with a new approach. The new approach is the combination of theoretical sufistic education and practical and philosophical mysticism. This paper analyses his sufistic poems with content analysis method and extracts these sufistic motifs. The paper attempts to find out how Molla Sadra describes some of the social groups in his era by using some common motifs, terms and codes in sufistic literature like love, wine, Saqi, etc., and how he reflects some of the behaviors of sufis, Alims, Faqihs and Motesharrean ('authoritarian clergy') at his time.
