Khatib Tabrizi's Methodology in Mu allaqāt

Due to the place and importance of Mu‘allaqāt in Arabic literature various explanations have been written on the text that “The Explanation of the Muallaqat al- a’shr is written by Khatib Tbrizi, an Iranian scholar of 5th Hijra. Considering the reputation of the Khatib Tabriz’s book, the present study intends to study the methodology employed by him in "The Explanation of the Muallaqat al- a’shr", using a descriptive - analytical method. The results of this study reveals that although "The Explanation of the Muallaqat al- a’shr” can be considered as a summary of the previous explanations of Ibn Anbari and Nahas. Selection of the materials and arranging them has given his explanations authenticity and excellence. Moreover, the book has benefited from Khatib’s perspectives; in other words his qouzi-revolutionary methodology and comprehensive look has made his book different and distinguishable in its kind.
