The effect of Family-centered empowerment on Perceived severity of threat in Caregivers of patients with stroke: a semi experimental study
Family members of patients with cerebral infarction due to sudden exposure to stroke and adopt a new role as a Caregiver In addition to the physical and mental pressure and stress and disruption in social activities in their rehabilitation programs are also frequent problems. The present study aimed to determine the effect of intervention Based on Family-centered empowerment on Perceived severity of threat in Caregivers of patients with stroke in three dimensions: social, physical and spiritual was performed. Materials: This clinical trial study was conducted on 88 caregivers selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into two equal groups of case and control (n = 44). Data gathering devices were demographic questioner, Bartle scale and Perceived severity of threat questioner which were completed before and one month after the educational intervention. Educating the subjects was performed in 5 sessions. Data were analyzed using chi-square, paired and independent t tests.
There was not any significant difference between mean scores of Perceived severity of threat of the groups before the intervention (P = 0.941). One month after the intervention, the mean scores of Perceived severity of threat in three dimensions: social, physical and spiritual were increased considerably in case group compared with controls (P < 0.05).
intervention Based on Family-centered empowerment can reduce Perceived severity of threat in three dimensions: social, physical and spiritual in caregivers of patients with stroke and their lead to efficient care of the patients.
