The Study of some of the Misarticulations in the Speech of some Hearing Impaired Children of Mashhadd City
The ability to produce the sounds of speech and develop this ability is a considerable challenge for children with hearing loss. Such children frequently have delayed or disordered speech production. In order to identify the phonological rules or processes present in speech of such children, we use phonological analysis as a tool for studying and describing their misarticulations. We have described deletion, substitution, assimilation and insertion in misarticulations of participant speech. In this way, we have transcribed the speech of 8 hearing loss children between the ages of 3 to 6.The results show that substitution and deletion are more evident than other misarticlations. This suggests that subjects have exhibited the same, but not age-matched phonological processes as children with normal hearing.
