The Effectiveness of Social Competence-based Program in Enhancement Social Skills of Student with Learning Disabilities

Abstract:
Objective
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the social competence-based program in enhancement social skills in students with learning disabilities in Tehran.
Method
The present study is a Quasi-experimental study design with pre-test and post-test, and with experimental and control groups. 20 students with learning disability were chosen and randomly assigned to two control and experimental groups. The Social skills Rating System (Gresham and Elliot, 1990) had completed by parents in pre and post-test stage. Data were analyzed with multivariate covariance.
Results
Results showed that program had significant effect on cooperation, assertion and self-controlling in experimental group.
Conclusion
Thus the social competence-based program can increase social skills of students with learning disabilities.
