Message:
Abstract:
Intersections are one of the most vulnerable places to traffic accidents. In fact, most of accidents are taking place at the junctions. Pedestrians are the most vulnerable in these accidents. The effective factors in pedestrian accidents involve: Flaws in the vehicle's system, Flaws in the design of the way, human factors and environmental factors such as the way's clearness. Other effective factors are the time of sunrise & sunset and also the time of starting the engines and the junction's clearness. In this research, for prediction accidents, the second-order regression model is used; and for analyzing the results, the comparing outcome is used. In this research, 173 intersections with 8, 6 and 4 lanes were analyzed and the representative of the most probable accidents has been selected. And the result shows that providing lighting at the study intersections before sunset would reduce pedestrian accidents.
