Police Continuous Monitoring and Reducing Crime in Urban and Regional Environments (Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari Province)

Continuous monitoring is the most important role of police in reducing crime. In fact the observant eyes on the security of urban and regional environments can lead to elimination of required environmental conditions for offense commitment. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between police observation in the urban and regional environments and crime reduction. In terms of methodology this study is a descriptive-analytic research. The statistical population of the study included 1547 prisoned criminals in the prisons of Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari Province. 290 prisoners were selected as the sample of the study using Cochran formula. To analyze the data, Kruskal, median, and Chi square tests were employed.Findings and The findings indicated that most of the offenses of the province were robbery and drug use. The crime rates of Shahrekord city based on the population and area is higher than other cities. There is not a significant difference between the cities of the province in terms of the type of committed crimes; but there is a significant relationship among variousindicators of the police supervision including number of stations, police presence in urban areas, the incidence of accidents and police presence, police patrols and the type of committed crimes.
