The Internet Communication Pathology among the Students at the University of Yazd

Statement of the problem: these days, the use of internet, which has several functions, has increased among the university students. One of these functions is to communicate via electronic mail, chat rooms, blogs and various sites. Communicating via internet has both positive and negative functions and this article considers its negative functions. this study has been done in a survey method and the data collection tool was questionnaire. The statistical population is the university students majoring at human science; the number of the students was 3260 in 2011. Based on Cochran’s formula, 121 students were selected using simple random sampling method. After collecting the information, all the data were analyzed using SPSS software and then the reliability was obtained via Cronbach Alpha value. the findings indicated that there is a significant relationship between internet damages as the dependent variable (gender, age, anonymity, and role-play) and the independent variables (sense of freedom, the need to respect, sexual needs, and escape from problems). But there is not a significant relationship between internet damages and the variable such as Educational level, father's occupation, mother's occupation, income, mother's education, father's education. The Regression Analysis shows that among the seven independent variables entered into the regression equation, four variables of escape from problems, age, sense of freedom, and sexual need have a significant role in explaining internet damages. It explains about 40.1 % of the changes in internet damages. Among them, age has the most significant role in predicting the internet damage.
