The Effects of Social and Economic Changes on Women-Headed Households

Women’s effective roles and capabilities in the success of developing governments in various fields including population growth control, unemployment, etc. in recent decades have urged the researchers to pay attention to them. On the other hand, there is the fact that women are the vulnerable groups of society that social and economic developments strongly influence them. This study deals with the examination of the effects of social and economic developments on women-headed households. This study is of a survey research type. The statistical population of the study included 500 senior experts of Office of Labor and Social Welfare and its corresponding sample size was 216 individuals. The data were obtained using a reseracher-made questionnaire that had an acceptable validity and reliability coefficient (0.86 and 0.90) and then they were analyzed by t-test. Findings and the results indicated that the social and economic factors had a reverse effect on social and economic functions of women-headed households, meaning that any kind of change in the factors related to social and economic development would negatively affect the social and economic functions of women-headed households.
