ASSESSMENT THE EFFECTS OF CARDIAC REHABILITATION PROGRAM ON OCCURANCE OF CLINICAL MANIFESTATION AND REHOSPITALIZATION OF THE CLIENTS AFTER CORONARY BYPASS GRAFTING SURGERY (CABGS) IN DEY AND SHARIATI HOSPITAL IN TEHRAN (1998)

Today, coronary artery disaese is a big problem in health system, everywhere in the world. one of the best ways for dealing that, is coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). success at this operation depends on cardiac rehabilitation. The present research is a quasi expriemental study which was carried out to assess the effects of cardiac rehabilitation program on clinical manifestation and rehospitalization of clients after CABG.Sample consisted of 40 patients (20 = Experiment, and 20 = control group) who had been CABG surgery. Inclusion criterias were; gender: male, age: 45-65 years, left ventricular ejection fraction: over 40%, number of graft vessels: 3-5, and residence in Tehran. Exclusion criterias were having any chronic illness such as diabetes mellitus, heart failure and renal failure. A questionnaire and a check list were tools of research. The control group patients didn’t participate in cardiac rehabilitation program. After participation the clients of Expriement group, in cardiac rehabilitation program (8 session) including: “Exercise and physical training, diet management, stress management, drug regimen, education, and cardiac symptom management”, During 3 times home visit, the check list datas had reported by clients. (in both group: Expriment and control).After collecting the data, and analysis them, by statistical, Chi _square and Fisher Exact test,the results showed that after rehabilitation program, Occurance of dyspnea.(P<0.04) chest pain.(P<0.04), peripheral edema.(P<0.05), Weakness and fatigue between two groups of patients have been significantly different (P<0.00) and palpitation rate has no difference between two groups of patients. Also, the study revealed that rehospitalization has been more frequent in control group.(P<0.05). Based on these findings, cardiac rehabilitation programs after CABG affected clinical manifestation and rehospitalization. Findings showed decrease of chest pain, dyspnea, peripheral edema, Weakness, fatigue and rehospitalization in experiment group. Therefore these findings are usefull in planning and implementation of cardiac rehabilitation program in health systems.
