A study of different teaching types among police university faculty members

Abstract:
The main purpose of this research was to study amount of police university faculty members tendency to different teaching types. A survey research method was used. This research has 3 statistical population including full time faculty members of Police University(N = 213) that had M. A and PhD and were teaching in different classes on -; All the educational departments’ principals by population of 24 and finally all students of Police University in whole scientific levels who studied in the academic year 2010-2011 and their total population were 2300 students.In this study for selecting statistical sample ratio stratified random sampling was used. Accordingly, based on taskmaster opinion, sample of 100 lecturers were selected for statistical community of faculty members by regarding their proportion in each group. Selection of students’ sample was same as faculty members’ procedure but, by total population of 419 students.In addition, for selectingsample educational departments’ principals, census method was used due to the limited population frequency. In this study, some questionnaires designed to collect information through three types of scholastic assessment questionnaire. Kazelman’s assessment of teachers’types’ questionnaire and Friedlander’s assessment of students’ satisfactory level questionarie & teachers’ type questionnaire were utilized. Validityof questionnaires through content validity reported as acceptable by experts. The reliability of the questionnaireswas computed by using Cronbach's alpha coefficient equal to 0/884 and 0/854.For data analysis, descriptive statistic indicators such as mean, standard deviations,frequencies, percentages and inferential statistical tests, one-sample t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient were utilized. Findings of this study depicted that students believe most famous teaching types are lesson centered, learner centered, behavioral and incompatible; according to principals of educational departments’ point of views, most famous teaching types include: transformational, interactive, protestant and concerned.Also, through students’ outlook, the most common lesson centered teaching types include scientific & philosophical lesson centered types. The most prominent learner centered types of teaching respectively were individual and collective; most popular behavioral types of teaching were authoritarian and camaraderie types; most popular authoritarian types were negative and positive authoritarian types and incompatible type is most abominable type among faculty members. In addition, there is a positive correlation among lesson centered, learner centered and behavioral types and students’ satisfactory. But, there is no correlation between incompatible teaching type and students’ satisfactory. There is positive and significant relationship between lesson centered and learner centered types and students performance and there is negative and significant relationship between incompatible type with students’ performance.
