The correlation between transformational leadership and organizational justice from perspective of personnel of rehabilitation clinics in Ahvaz hospitals, Iran

Introduction

Rehabilitation clinics are considered the key elements of the referral system in the health sector. Therefore, at these units managers must lead organization to maximum efficiency and effectiveness via applying administrative procedures and appropriate leadership. The study aimed to determine the correlation between transformational leadership and organizational justice from perspective of personnel of rehabilitation clinics in Ahvaz hospitals, Iran.

Materials and Methods

This study was a descriptive-correlational research. Research population were consists of all experts and personnel of ten public and four private rehabilitation clinics in Ahvaz. Totally, 127 employees participated in research. Data collection tools included demographic information, “Transformational Leadership Questionnaire” and “Organizational Justice Questionnaire”. Validity of the instruments was confirmed by 6 faculty members of rehabilitation and health care management via content validity. Cronbach's alpha was calculated as 0.81 and 0.91 for the “Transformational Leadership Questionnaire” and “Organizational Justice Questionnaire” respectively. The data were analyzed using SPSS/19.

Findings

The total mean score calculated as 3.77±0.69 for transformational leadership and 3.38±0.80 for organizational justice. Pearson correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between the total score and components of transformational leadership and organizational justice (P=0.001). Analysis of regression showed that individual consideration and intellectual stimulation, among components of transformational leadership, had a significant correlation with organizational justice.

Conclusion

A significant and positive correlation was shown between transformational leadership and organizational justice. Transformational leadership showed highest correlation with interactional justice dimension. It is suggested that managers of rehabilitation clinics can enhance employee's interaction and participation by considering individual differences.
