Investigating the Graduate Programs in Technology Management Worldwide: A Comparative Study

Investigating and studying educational programs is one of the main activities of any academic discipline for self-evaluation. This article reviews previous studies about educational programs related to technology management (and related fields) to show their shortcomings, and then tries to answer four questions about technology management graduate programs –through a different way: 1) How are they geographically distributed worldwide and which schools\faculties offer these programs? 2) How program themes are linked to regions and schools\faculties? 3) What courses have the highest frequency? and 4) How courses are linked to themes and schools\faculties? The initial index for educational programs was prepared through searching the keywords in cyber; then accomplished through searching information technology management (educational) programs in 100 top universities worldwide plus other educational institutes ranked as good quality universities admired by ministry of science, research and technology of Iran. After extracting the needed data about programs, the researchers have used thematic method for titles of programs and courses and their analysis according to the initial data for answering the research questions. Research results are applicable for policy-makers, members of scientific community of technology management, and whoever that shows interest in learning technology management. Also, the Iranian IT educational programs were compared to the gained results.
