Representation of Regional and National Identity in Provinces Textbooks of Hormozgan, Kurdistan and Sistan and Baluchistan
The "Introduction to Provinces" Textbooks have been compiled to represent the regional identity of various provinces of the country and it is being taught in Iranian high schools. Having been newly compiled, the book seems to contain some shortcomings like frailty of introducing the regional and national identity. Utilizing a content analysis technique, the present article has reviewed the way to represent and introduce the regional and national identity. To conduct this, three textbooks on Introduction of Provinces Hormozgan, Kurdistan and Sistan and Baluchistan have been surveyed. According to the Results, a three dimensional relationship between regional and national identity was illustrated in the textbooks which are: convergence, difference and contradictory. Some negligence has happened to introducing the relationship between regional and national identity. Also, to some extent, they have been demonstrated more convergent. Furthermore, there is no balance in introducing the dimensions and aspects of regional identity. Besides, overstating on cultural and geographical factors, has led to a disproportion compared to other factors.
