Abstract:
Today one of the influential factors in the societies› fundamental freedom is their level of adherence to the press freedom. The world agreements have determined the press freedom as one of the criteria in developing the right of the public surveillance, and have asked the member countries to accept their own commitments. The present paper intends to study the relation between the press freedom and the right of the public surveillance,as well as the effect of censorship on this right. This study, in addition to presenting the definition of the press, evaluates the role of censorship in some country›s constitutional law and analyzes the defects of the press right and the effect of censorship on it in Iran. The present study evaluates the effect of the press freedom on the right of the public surveillance in Hormozgan using a field study. The results show that balance between the right of surveillance on press and the freedom of press leads to much surveillance on the part of the people.
