Labor Market and Security: A Comparative Analysis of Border and Non-Border Provinces in Iran

Abstract:
Achieving full employment is the most important economic issues mentioned in the vision statement of Iran in 1404. Employment prevents the community from many of the social anomaly and also provides a relatively safe and secure area for community. However, current studies indicate that labor market development, such as creating jobs, is highly influenced by geographical location. Hence, it is expected that labor market development in the border provinces does not differ from non-border provinces. Furthermore, the security has influenced by this distinctions .Accordingly, this paper tries to investigate the possible differences between labor market development and its impact on security measures in the border provinces. Using data from border and non-border provinces in Iran during the Forth Development Plan, the results of this study indicated a significant correlation between the levels of labor market development and the security measures. In policy making perspective, this findings show that developing labor market in border provinces can increase the security factors, and this can boost the national production.
