A Survey Study of Librarian's Knowledge and Skills in the Application of Reference Services based view's Kovacks (Case study: Mazandaran Public University Libraries)

The aim of the study was to assess the status of knowledge and skills in the use of references services based on the view's Kovacks (critical thinking, analysis questions, interviewing, organizing information, Find reference resources, and mastery of advanced tools) in terms of view's staff or the Mazandaran public university library.
This descriptive - survey. Population is management and public librarians Mazandaran public University. Sampling method is random stratified sampling. Data collection methods is researcher- built questionnaire and reliability was calculated with Cronbach's alpha coefficient (%80). Data analysis was done by SPSS 16 software.
Findings: Findings demonstrated view's Kovacks is effective on knowledge and skills of reference librarians in Mazandaran Public university libraries and the average of all the components is higher than average and it is in good condition. The most favorable component is "mastery of advanced tools" and lowest component "organization information". Also there was not a significant difference among the view's librarians based on demographic variables (i.e. gender, measure of study, background of employment, graduation degree, type of work in library) in Mazandaran Public University libraries.
Originality Value: View's Kovacks was integrated critical thinking aspects with fields information- seeking tools and will help to develop skills and knowledge synergy reference librarian. Reference librarians can develop their skills in references service and accelerated access and disseminate information to client.
