The Role of Internet Chat Rooms in Ethical Crimes

Chat-rooms are among the new communicative technologies. That play role in information sharing and communication. They, on the other hand, have negative consequences. The present study tries to investigate the role of internet chat rooms in ethical crimes. This was a descriptive-analytic field study. 8000 of the students studying in Tehran universities formed the statistical population of the study. 321 of them were randomly selected as the statistical sample. The findings of the study proved a significant relationship between the variables of the study and ethical crimes. Findings also showed that lack of required control in chat-rooms including parents control, lack of internet police, lack of filtering, and lack of control on the part of authorities are efficacious toward ethical crime rate.
