Evaluating the use of Poetry to Reduce Irrational Beliefs in Female Students

Abstract:
Background and Objectives
Considering the importance of poetry in reducing stress, the aim of this study was to evaluating the use of poetry to reduce irrational beliefs in female students.
Materials and Methods
The research design was quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest with control group. The research population included all secondary school female students in Urmia in the 2013-2014 school years. The sampling method was multi-stage cluster. The random sample of 30 students who have high scores on the questionnaire irrational beliefs were selected randomly in two experimental and control group and Poetry therapy sessions were conducted on the experimental group and irrational beliefs questionnaire Jones was administered on them. Data were analyzed by using of descriptive statistics and MANCOVA method was used to analyze the research data was analyzed in SPSS.16 software.
