Family Relationship, IifeQuality and Resilience in Students with Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder and Normal Students

Abstract:
Background And Objective
Attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder is a chronic and damaging disorder that continues from childhood to adulthood. Students with attention deficit / hyperactivity compared with normal students are different in important characteristics. The aim of the present study was to compare family relationships, quality of life and resiliency among children with ADHD and normal students.
Methods
the present study was Ex post facto and a type of cross – comparative one. The population of this study consisted of all male high school students in the city of Ardabil who have attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity, and in the accademic year of (2014 -2015). The sample included 160 Students with attention deficit / hyperactivity and normal Students (80 students with attention deficit / hyperactivity, and 80 normals students) who were selected randomly. In the present study for collecting data on the adults short diagnostic scale of conser`s attention deficit / hyperactivity, Schafer family questionnaire, Kvnrv and David Sun`s quality of life questionnaire and resiliency scale. To analyze the data, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used were used.
Results
The results showed that, there is a significant difference between students with attention deficit / hyperactivity as normal students in terms of family relationships, quality of life and resiliency.So that Normal students have more stable family relationships, higher quality of life and level of resiliency than students with attention deficit / hyperactivity.
Conclusion
Based on this research, it was found that parents of children with attention deficit / hyperactivity show strict control and less freedom to their children. Also the quality of life and resiliency of children with attention deficit / hyperactivity was lower than normals.
