Examined the Relationship between Nurses Awareness of Ergonomic Science and Occupational Injury Rates in Selected Teaching Hospitals in Yazd Medical University

The term of Ergonomics means rule and law labor which examines the relationship of human with his work environment to improve living and working conditions.Therefore, this study intends to provide background for appropriate preventive solutions to occupational injuries and musculoskeletal disorders with determination the rate of knowledge of principles ergonomics and working conditions for personnel in hospitals.
In this cross-sectional study 523 nurses in 4 hospitals in Yazd. The main variables investigated are awareness of Ergonomics Principles, working conditions, job injuries and demographic variables. Information After extraction from questionnaires were entered into SPSS software version 16 and using statistical tests, Kolmogorov Smirnov, Chi-square, independent t-test, Manwitny and Pearson is being processed.
Nurse's knowledge in the field of ergonomics, with a mean of (2.86±076) from 5 Score was moderate and working conditions of nurses with a mean (2.41±0.58) as weak and job injuries such as musculoskeletal disorders with a mean (2.67±0.87) was poor as well. Between knowledge of science of ergonomics and job injuries statistically significant inverse correlation (P-value = 0.04) and a direct relationship between working conditions and job injuries was significant (P-value Comprehensive training programs to improve working conditions and the use of ergonomic interventions can be effective for reducing occupational injuries.
