The Political Thought of Abdol-Karim Haeri Yazdi

Ayatollah Sheikh Abdol-Karim Haeri Yazdi is one of the influential persons in protection and dynamicity of Shia Islam. So, studying the behaviors and juridical and political views of him, and also his theoretical and practical ways of confrontation in politics and governing have been always noticed by the Islamic political thought researchers. The main question of the present study is discovering the juridical-political thought of Ayatollah Sheikh Abdol-Karim Haeri Yazdi. The questions always under debate were “what is his approach towards Islamic government?” or “to whom the right of governance belong in the time of absence?” or “how can contradictions in his political thought and behaviors be justified?”. In the present paper, we will review the political viewpoint of the founder of Qom Hawzah, in which the political procedure of Sheikh Abdol-Karim are followed based on benefits and disadvantages andinsightful plans and with completely supreme aims. In fact, he was firstly after protecting the religion and after that, peoples’ affairs. Also, we will show how his views on Velayat and political government have affected the evolution and advancement of Velyat-e-Faqih (governance of the jurist) theory. This study is based on library sources and its method is descriptive-analytical. It will explain these matters with juridical-political approach.
