The Effect of Computerized Games for Attention on Attention Networks and Temperament of Students with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity

The present study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of computerized games for attention on attention networks and temperament of pre-school students diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The study employed a semi-experimental design with control group. The sample of study includes 20 male students who received DSM-V criteria for ADHD. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups; experimental and control group (n=10). They did not show a difference in the Raven''s Progressive Matrices before treatment. Students’ attention ability was assessed through attention network test (ANT) for children. Children''s Behaviour Questionnaire (CBQ) was used to measure students’ temperament. The experimental group were under training within 10 sessions during three days per week for 30 minutes.
Data was analysed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). Results indicate that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of students of the experimental and control groups on the overall accuracy measure of attention network test in favour of the experimental group. (P It is concluded that computerized games for attention training may include as an effective method for improvement of overall attention ability and effortful control of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity.
