The Analysis of Anima in the Sonnets of Hafez

Abstract:
Carl Gustav Jung believes that Anima is the symbol of feminine in the males’ unconscious. It is the image of a woman as a comprehensive (general) phenomenon and does not represent the woman’s genuine personality. It is manifested in literary and artistic works and particularly dreams. Hafez doesn’t portray a very clear image of the beloved in his poetry. However, by pondering over her general attributes and features, she can be conceived as the symbol of anima, possessing such positive aspects as a)antiquity b) indescribability and inaccessibility c)youth and beauty d)inspiring e)piety-fighting and making love f) tempting, emotional and wisdom g)giving life. Describing the characteristics and motivations of Anima display in the poems of Hafez this research depicts some part of the lover character in the poems of Hafez as well as the inclination of man in the position of amorous to the lover, so that it can be said Anima display is essentially manifested at an exalted level in the poems of Hafez. It is its hidden half and its old twin .This research has been conducted by descriptive-analytic method and the library resources have been used for data collection.
