The Citizens' Sense of Security in Isfahan Urban Parks
The sense of security is one of the fundamental aspects of the concept of security in its general sense. The aim of this study is to investigate the citizens' sense of security in the parks of Isfahan city. The main research question is the citizens' sense of insecurity in urban areas, especially Parks, which today has become a major concern to urban planners and managers.
In terms of its objectives this study is of an applied research type. In terms of its methodology it is a survey study. A researcher-made questionnaire was employed for data collection. The validity was confirmed using face validity and its reliability was obtained by alpha Cronbach as .78. The statistical population of the study included all the residents in 14 districts in Isfahan City. The questionnaires were distributed among a sample of 504 individuals in 14 parks in Isfahan City. The results indicate that the majority of participants expressed the sense of security in the park at a low level. And also the citizens in downtown parks have had more sense of security than other parks. The results indicated that the variable of informal control will have the most effect and after that the variables of environmental irregularity and official control in the second and third priority, increasing effect on the sense of security of the citizens in the parks of Isfahan City.
