Translatability and untranslatability of Quran

According to the increasing number of Quran translation to other languages specifically English, an attempt to study translations of Quran among the scholars seems necessary. Quran has endeavor eloquence and artistic structure in comparison with other common texts; the main aim of the translator is to transfer the Quran’s massage without paying attention to the stylistic and discourse features. Thus one of the important issues is translatability and untranslatability of Quran among the Moslem scholars. Some believe in translatability and some know it impossible. The present article tries to take a brief look at initial translations of Quran and then studies the translatability and untranslatability of it from linguistic as well as some challenges for translators; in this regard the translation of some verses from Al – e Emran and Saba Surahs translated by Yüksel and Yousef Ali.
