The Model of Dubai Islamic Bank; A Theoretical Analysis and Some Strategies for Amending Iran's Banking Law

By Islamic banking development throughout the world, diverse models of Islamic banks were presented, acquiring knowledge of whom can lead to the convergence and standardization of the services provided by the Islamic banks and to their exploiting of each other’s experiences. One of the Islamic banks with such an attribute is Dubai Islamic Bank. Introducing and examining the operational model of this bank, as a leading bank in providing the Islamic financial services, may play an effective role in promoting the banks’ activities in the other countries, especially in Iran.
In the present article, adopting a descriptive-analytical method and using library and Internet sources, we examine the hypothesis that “Dubai Islamic Bank’s operational model is of proper comprehensiveness, legitimacy and efficiency.” The results show that regarding comprehensiveness, the bank enjoys the necessary comprehensiveness as to allocating the financial resources. Also, regarding legitimacy, the only basic objection to the bank is using Mudarabah contract in all economic sectors, while according to the belief of most of Imamiah jurisconsults, Mudarabah is special to the trading sector. Dubai Islamic Bank enjoys a proper efficiency regarding to the relevant standards, as well. Thus, it is recommended that this bank’s operational model be considered in amending Iran’s banking Law.
