A Review on Filler Flocculation and Kinetics Models of Filler Network Formation in Highly-Filled Rubber Compounds

Abstract:
Understanding flocculation processes in various systems such as highly- filledrubbercompounds has been taken into consideration in the past years. Nonlinear viscoelasticity in rubber compounds stems from Filler flocculation, thus, surveying the kinetics of this process can be of great importance for optimizing the mechanical behavior of such materials. This article briefly reviews the latest investigations of filler flocculation, affecting parameters and their effects on mechanical behavior of highly- filled rubber compounds. Also, iso- energetic behavior of storage modulus has been investigated as a criterion of filler flocculation process. Moreover, kinetics models for the flocculation processes have been reviewed briefly. The Multistage Agglomeration Model and the Kluppel Model defining the kinetics of filler flocculation has been studied and fairly compared.
